Location : Paithal Mala located at Sreekandapuram in Kannur district (65 km from Kannur town near the Kerala Karnataka border)
Attractions: If it's summer Paithal Mala becomes as busy as a pilgrimage centre. Yes. It's the pilgrimage centre for hundreds of nature lovers. Paithal Mala is a much sought after haven for tourists from across the state during this period of time. Located at about 4500 feet above sea level the 300 acre wide sprawling area is a safe home to numerous birds, hundreds of butterflies, rare plants and trees. It is a 6 km trek to the top of the hills. The area still holds on to its natural charm and the Tourism Department is slowly beginning to focus its attention to this upcoming tourist destination. Already an amount of 25 lacs have been sanctioned by the Department for constructing a road leading to Paithal Mala. Even during this sweltering summer at Paithal Mala one can relish a real cool climate. En route to the top of the hill one can see the remains of the run down palace of the tribal king called Vaithalkon.
